The French Development Agency (AFD) approved a grant for the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) to support its Domestic Revenue Mobilization Initiative. The grant, which is being implemented through a project (DRM Project CGM1019) and is expected to last for two (2) years, is assisting The GRA in implementing Risk Management Programs as part of its overall Reforms and Modernization Initiatives, as encapsulated in the Authority’s Corporate Strategic Plan (2020- 2024).
As part of activities, the Customs Risk Management benefited from a two-week training of customs officers on Risk Assessment Profiling & Targeting and Data Analysis. The training which targeted 20 officers started from 4-8 th December 2023, with intensive classroom discussions and field visits at the Airport. The Training was conducted by a WCO Risk Management Expert from Uganda Revenue Authority.
The second session which is Data Analysis started on the 12-15th, targeting ten GRA Managers from both Customs, Domestic Taxes, IT and Enterprise Risk Management. The objective of this training is to avail managers the opportunity to analyze both the Customs and Domestic Tax data to make informed decisions for Domestic Revenue Mobilization initiatives.
