The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has been honored with the prestigious accolade of being recognized as the Most Outstanding Performing Institution in The Gambia. The award was presented by the Gambia High Commission in Senegal in collaboration with the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA) and Senegal’s Agence Nationale Pour la Promotion des Investissements et des Grands Travaux (APIX). The momentous recognition took place during the 2nd Edition of the Gambia-Senegal Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum and Cultural Night, held on December 19th and 20th, 2024, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center.
In his acceptance speech, the Commissioner General of the GRA, Mr. Yankuba Darboe, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the event organizers for acknowledging the Authority’s outstanding achievements. Mr. Darboe proudly highlighted that the GRA had surpassed its ambitious revenue target of GMD 19.2 billion for the year 2024. He attributed this remarkable feat to the Authority’s unwavering commitment to innovation and efficiency, underscored by its robust digitalization strategies and the relentless dedication of its hardworking staff.
Mr. Darboe emphasized that digital transformation has been the cornerstone of the GRA’s success, enabling streamlined operations, enhanced transparency, and improved service delivery. “This award is a testament to the collective efforts of our team and the transformational impact of embracing technology to drive revenue performance,” he remarked.
The vibrant and well-attended event brought together a host of dignitaries, including the Vice President of The Gambia, the Prime Minister of Senegal, cabinet ministers, prominent business leaders, and representatives from the private sector. The celebration not only honored outstanding achievements but also underscored the strengthening economic and cultural ties between The Gambia and Senegal.
This recognition serves as a milestone for the GRA, inspiring continued excellence in fostering fiscal sustainability and economic growth for The Gambia.
